Beaded Angel from Abbeville

This little angel adds a lot of sparkle to your holiday decorating! She’s made with lots of beads and your loving hands.

Students will need to know how to work with 2 shuttles before taking this class.

Techniques covered include split ring, split chain, working with beads, and controlling the curve of a chain.

Materials:
Model was made with size 20 Opera thread.
93 small beads (rocaille, seed, 10°, or whatever best fits the thread you choose
1 teardrop-shaped bead, about 3/8” long (some of these are packages as 6X9 teardrop beads) – ideally with a horizontal hole

Bring to class:
2 shuttles, loaded CTM (how much thread depends on how tightly or loosely you tat)
Shuttle 1 should have 86 beads and most of the thread
Shuttle 2 should have 7 beads and less thread
1 Teardrop bead (although the model is tatted with a milky white teardrop, I have found them in four additional colors – baby pink, sapphire blue, emerald green, and amethyst purple)

You may also find helpful:
Crochet hook for joins
A short length of contrasting scrap thread
A dental floss threader or beading needle

Sharren will have a quantity of teardrop beads, in the colors indicated above, available in class should you wish to purchase one or more (35¢ each or 3/$1.00)

Heart Motif

This heart can be used as an applique, or with a little extra tatting, it can become a bookmark. You’re challenged to keep your picots uniformly small for construction.

Students will need to know how to work with 2 shuttles before taking this class.

Techniques covered include construction picots, split chain, directional tatting (RODS – Reverse Order Double Stitch), and working with two shuttles.

Split Self-Closing Mock Ring Bookmark

This technique enables the tatter to throw rings off each side of a split ring.

Students will need to know how to tat a self-closing mock ring before taking this class.

Techniques covered include split, self-closing mock ring, working with two shuttles, starting a split ring in two colors with no knot, and picot uniformity.

Bring to class:
2 shuttles, each loaded with a different color of thread
A short length of contrasting scrap thread
Crochet hook (if you like to use one for joins)
Picot gauge (if you like to use one for sized picots)
