Hearts Afire Cross

Level 2

Make a unique cross bookmark using all heart-shaped rings. Practice several variations on dimpled rings, and learn how to make vertically stacked heart split rings. Self Closing Mock Rings (SCMR), rings thrown off of SCMR, and split rings will all be employed.

Techniques: Self Closing Mock Rings (SCMR-Chain that turns into a ring) and Split Rings (SR).

Materials and Preparation
2 shuttles wound full CTM with size 20 thread
Small crochet hook (for joining)
3 paper clips or safety pins

Mr. Snowman

Level 1

Make a cute winter decoration - a snowman! The body of the snowman is made in one round. Learn how to use picot guages (provided), as well as rings thrown off a split ring and split ring joins. some beads will be used as well.

Materials
5 size 6/0 black bead
4 seed beads, 10/0 recommended
White and black Size 20 thread
Bead threader
2 shuttles wound CTM with white thread (see below for loading beads)
1 shuttle wound with black thread still on ball
Picot gauges

Preparation
For Hat: Load about ¾ yard of black thread onto 1 shuttle, the rest can be on a ball. Do not cut from ball.

For Body: Load onto white ball thread 2b 2B 2b 3B

Wind white thread CTM on 2 shuttles. Load Shuttle 1 first, Sh1 has a single large bead, Sh2 has the rest of the beads.

Snowflake Bracelet

Level 1

Make a fun bracelet with snowflakes on the wrist. Students will learn split rings and how to use beads in tatting.

Materials and Preparation
2 shuttles wound CTM with size 20 thread
Small crochet hook (for joining)
36 Bugle beads. Twelve more if you make the decorative tail.
40 matching seed beads (10/0), 2 more for the decorative tail.
Bead needle for threading
Jump ring and lobster clasp

To load beads – b = seed bead, B = bugle bead
Load ball thread with 7b, B, b, 2B, b, 2B, b, B, b, B, b, 2B, b, 2B, b, B, b, B, b, 2B, b, 2B, b, B, 8b.

Push the beads down the thread about 3.5 yards, then continue loading the rest of the beads. The open thread is the middle. Load on ball thread 6b, B, b, 2B, b, 2B, b, B, b, B, b, 2B, b, 2B, b, B, b, B, b, 2B, b, 2B, b, B, 7b.

Shuttle 1 has the 8 seed beads before the middle
Shuttle 2 has the rest of the beads.
Beads in the second half of split rings are slid over from shuttle 2.

Optional Kits
$5 for each, in black, navy or gray Lizbeth thread, with silver beads.

Snowflake Earrings

Level 1

Make a great pair of sparkly earrings! Students will learn how to use beads in tatting, as well as a variation on the Magic Thread Trick.

Materials and Preparation
1 shuttle wound with size 20 thread
20 Bugle beads.
10 matching seed beads (10/0).
1 drop bead
Jump ring and earring finding

To load beads – b = seed bead, B = bugle bead, D = drop bead
Load thread with B, b, 2B, b, 2 B, b, 2B, b, 2B, b, 2B, b, 2B, b, 2B, b, B, D, B, b, 2B, b, B

Optional Kits
$5 for each, in black, navy or gray Lizbeth thread, with silver beads.
