Choose Your Own Snowflake

Level 2

Skills include starting from a chain, throwing rings off chains, working with two shuttles, split rings and SCMR. Snowflakes can be made so they end with a self-hanger, or end in the center (must deal with ends).

Materials and Preparation

2 shuttles, loaded CTM (models tatted in size 20 thread)

Twinkle, Twinkle

Level 1

Skills include working with two shuttles, working with beads, and throwing rings off chains. The tatter can choose to finish the star with a split chain and a split ring in order to avoid having ends to hide, or finish the final point the same as the other points and hide the ends.

Both additional skills will be discussed in class, and instruction given as desired by the individuals.

Materials and Preparation

2 shuttles, loaded CTM, pre-strung with 70 beads (model tatted in size 20 thread, size
11 beads). Move 15 beads to Sh1 and 55 beads to Sh2.

Scissor FOB

Level 2

Skills include working with pre-strung beads, with an opportunity to learn to use a bead spinner; making pearl tatting with no ball thread; working unflipped stitches; and tips on measuring the length needed for the FOB.

Materials and Preparation

¼” (6mm) metal split ring - 2
Lanyard hook
10º or 11º beads (whatever works with your thread) – about 110 will be needed. Pre-string 89 on your thread. Reserve the remaining 20 for your long beaded picot. Be sure you have some extras in case you need to load more on your shuttle thread!
2 shuttles wound CTM: Shuttle 1 will have 44 beads. Shuttle 2 will have 45 beads (9 will be for the ring at one end, 6 for the ring at the other end, and 30 for the fob length)
1 large bead
Crochet hook for joins
Scrap thread – 1

Snow Angel

Level 2

Tatted with size 20 thread, this sweet little angel is about 2" tall (and not quite as wide, from wing tip to wing tip).

Materials and Preparation
2 shuttles
1 small safety pin (optional)

72 beads to fit your thread (I used 11º on size 20 thread), strung as follows:
Sh1 = 32
Sh2 = 32
Reserve 7-8 for the halo (you will put the beads on the long picot, then join)

The angel can be tatted without the beads, by simply disregarding the directions to move the beads into place.

On Time: As a courtesy to your teacher and your classmates, please arrive ON TIME to your scheduled classes. If you finish your project early, or would like additional time to visit, shop, or see the silent auction items, you may leave any class early.
