Skills Needed: Rings, chains, comfortable with split rings, comfortable using 2 shuttles, comfortable with the idea of 'playing' with a written pattern to create a custom-tatted piece of lace.
Techniques: Part of class time may be spent in discussing ways to adapt the pattern, making notes on their own pattern to remind them of the 'custom' touches they want to add/remove on their project.

Materials: 2 large shuttles (Sew-Mate, large Clover, or larger), and the 'usual' tatting tools - scissors, crochet hook, etc.
Size 20 thread (or preferred size)
About 1 yard of narrow (1/8" or 1/4") ribbon.
Beads are optional, but pretty.

FILL both shuttles with thread CTM. If using beads, string desired number of beads (as few as 76, as many as 350, depending on your preference). Shuttle 2 thread should have 6 to 10 beads on it; Shuttle 1 thread has all the rest of the beads. Best to do the first bun cover without beads. Once you've got the pattern in your fingers, you can play with beads all over the place.

No Kit.
